Leverett Dean Harris is in the process of writing a book titled "The Things Your Daddy Would Have Told You If You Had One."
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL, June 04, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leverett Dean Harris has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
During his nearly 40 years of professional experience, Leverett Dean Harris has excelled in a number of industries. Experiencing life as a runaway at 17 years old, he decided to enter the field of acting, and through a stroke of good fortune and natural talent, he was selected by Warner Bros. to participate as a model and actor in several movies. Discovering a passion for being behind the scenes rather than in front of the camera, he began creating logo designs for various companies in the graphic arts industry. Operating in this role before the rise of computers, Mr. Harris was once tasked with duplicating his calligraphy designs 400 times, an impressive feat that helped him earn the position to design the concept for an award show during a time when people of color were not being represented fairly or even at all in the media.
In the midst of these endeavors, Mr. Harris pursued an education at Long Island University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and marketing. He concluded his studies at the Pratt Institute in 1995, earning a Master of Science in communications/packaging design. During this time, he additionally pursued work in voice-over acting, eventually getting hired by the National Black Network (NBN) to do voice-overs. As an intern with NBN, Mr. Harris was responsible for doing "actualities," which is when he had the opportunity to interview people like Muhammad Ali and feed the information to the lead announcers.
During this time, Mr. Harris would supplement his income by creating the NBN's business cards, letterheads and logos. Recognizing his aptitude for marketing, the company decided that he was better suited to direct the efforts of the advertising department, which led him to serve as the premier creative director for the Communications Excellence to Black Audiences Awards in New York City. From 2002 to 2019, Mr. Harris entered yet another professional venture, working as a level 2 supervisor in the New York City Human Resources Administration.
In addition to his many achievements throughout his career, Mr. Harris is an inventor of a financially successful invention. He created an anti-gravity cup for drafting tables that would prevent tools from sliding off the tables whenever they were tilted. He was also honored as the first Marc Rosen Packaging Design Winner by the Pratt Institute. Attributing his success to his strong work ethic and tenacity, he greatly admires his grandfather, William Boykin, and his grandmother, Hattie Boykin, who both had successful careers during a time in which black men and women were not given equal opportunities in the professional workforce. Looking toward the future, Mr. Harris is in the process of writing a book titled "The Things Your Daddy Would Have Told You If You Had One."
