Kimberly J. Benton Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Education

Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Benton has accrued valuable professional expertise in education, management, communications and administration in various roles, including as a legal secretary, band director and director of communications. As a young woman, she drew a wealth of inspiration from her mother, who had earned distinction as a teacher. In Ms. Benton's family, education was enshrined as the one aspect of a person that no one else could take away.

Following her husband's passing, Ms. Benton decided to further her education and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in educational leadership at Northcentral University. Due to her prior experiences in the field, she is conducting her dissertation on special education coordinators' attitudes and their impact on due process litigation. Outside of her educational endeavors, Ms. Benton devoted herself to her community as the state agency chairperson for United Way of Mississippi. In this capacity, she achieved full participation in a large state agency for two years in a row.

Prior to pursuing her current degree, Ms. Benton earned a Master of Science in educational administration from American Public University in 2016, as well as a Bachelor of Science from David Lipscomb University in 1970. To remain aware of developments effecting the legal sector, she maintains her affiliation with the Jackson and National Associations of Legal Professionals. In light of her outstanding accomplishments, she was nominated through the National Society of Leadership and Success and was named as the Houseparent of the Year through the Tennessee Association of Child Care Institutions in 1977.
