William Smock Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Law

Mr. Smock draws upon decades of legal expertise in his work with Smock & Etling



    TERRE HAUTE, IN, June 09, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William Smock has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Backed by decades of expertise in the field of law, Mr. Smock excels as a partner with Smock & Etling, which he established in 1972 after working as an Indiana Deputy Attorney General in the litigation department. Throughout his career, he has specialized in criminal law and personal injury law, and has handled thousands of criminal cases, including numerous murder trials in both state and federal court. Additionally, Mr. Smock has also handled numerous death penalty cases in Vigo County and throughout the State of Indiana.

In pursuit of his legal aspirations, Mr. Smock initially earned a Bachelor of Science in English and Social Science from Indiana State University in 1968. Subsequently, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University in 1972. He has been admitted to practice law in Indiana and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Smock remains aware of changes in the field through his alignment with the Terre Haute Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

In light of his outstanding work in the legal field, Mr. Smock has been honored for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America and has accrued the highest rating possible as AV Preeminent from Martindale-Hubbell for over three decades. Martindale-Hubbell is the oldest and most respected lawyer rating system having evaluated and rated lawyers for over one hundred and fifty years. In his career Mr. Smock has appeared as a guest commentator on legal matters on national television, and also local media outlets. Mr. Smock has been involved in cases covered by the national print and television media including the CBS Evening News, the Today Show on NBC, Dateline and 48 Hours.

Mr. Smock continues to practice law in Terre Haute, Indiana.
