REDMOND, OR, June 10, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dawn Alexander has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Originally inspired to become a high school agriculture teacher, Ms. Alexander eventually pursued a career in a more general aspect of education. After working in her local school district for more than 20 years, she has flourished as a fifth grade teacher for Tom McCall Elementary since 2007. In this position, she has taught a variety of subjects, including mathematics, reading, writing, science, social studies, art, music and technology. Even though her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Alexander is especially proud of participating in the National Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation workshops.

In the early 1980s, Ms. Alexander obtained a Bachelor of Arts in agriculture education from the University of Nevada in Reno. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction from Lesley College in 1987. Ms. Alexander retains her professional alignment with the Redmond Future Farmers of America Alumni, the Oregon State Literacy Association, the Three Sisters Literacy Council and the board of directors for the Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom and the Deschutes County Farm Bureau.

In recognition of her professional work, Ms. Alexander accepted the National Award for Excellence in Teaching Agriculture from National Agriculture in the Classroom in 2019. Notably, she was the first winner of the aforementioned award from Oregon. Earlier in her career, she was presented with a Presidential Award in Teaching Elementary Mathematics from the state of Nevada in 1996. Looking toward the future, Ms. Alexander intends to conduct more work with the Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom Association and the National Agriculture in the Classroom Association in addition to teaching additional workshops.
