Enrolled in dance since she was a small child, Ms. Jamison Cote continued to hone her craft as she grew older and completed various intensives throughout her 58 years of dance. While in High School, she enrolled in Dance Masters of America Teaching Training Program in New York City for two years. At the age of 18, she opened her first school 'The Kathie Jamison Dance Studio.' Upon moving to the Florida Keys, she then operated Island Dance Connection Studios in Marathon & Key West. When returning to her home state of Maine 2 decades later, Northern Lights Dance Arts was born in Ellsworth and Bangor.
2020 is Ms. Kathie's 45th year of teaching the art and the beauty of dance. In her present position, she has been able to work with hundreds of dancers from Maine to Florida, nurturing dancers, growing friendships and mentoring relationships along the way. She attributes her personal success to hard work and love for the art of dance. Ms. Jamison Cote has excelled as an owner, an instructor and a choreographer, receiving various awards and prizes for her choreography.
Ms. Jamison Cote has experienced many memorable moments. One in particular was at the Tennessee Williams Fine Arts Center in Key West, the final Keys performance, with STO. In addition to teaching dance, she has authored two children's books. The Cats of the Cottage Café, (based on Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor, ME) and The Cats of the Valley Café, (based on Mount Washington and North Conway, NH.) Looking toward the future, Ms. Jamison Cote plans to continue thriving in her career journey.
