A board certified general and oncologic surgeon, Dr. Soto-Hamlin has garnered a laudable reputation for her work in specialized breast surgery. Practicing at the Geisinger Holy Spirit Breast Care Center in Mechanicsburg with a satellite in Carlisle, she provides state-of-the-art treatment and care for patients with breast cancer and breast disease, as well as post-surgery and follow-up services. Dr. Soto-Hamlin is likewise a former staff member and chairperson of the ethics committee at Harrisburg Hospital, a subsidiary of UPMC Pinnacle Health Hospital.

Outside of her primary profession, Dr. Soto-Hamlin has provided her expertise to academia as an assistant professor of surgery at Hershey Medical Center and Pennsylvania State University and with a faculty appointment at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Her clinical interests include breast risk assessment and management, treatment of benign breast problems, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, minimally invasive biopsies and oncoplastic surgical techniques. Dr. Soto-Hamlin participated with the University of Louisville between 1998 and 2002 as a principal investigator.

Locally, Dr. Soto-Hamlin has led efforts as a member of the board of directors and as the chairperson of the professional educational committee for the American Cancer Society in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, from 1987 until 1991. Other noteworthy involvement included serving on the administrative board of the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference, the board of education of the Diocese of Harrisburg and the Pink Hands of Hope and as a leader of the Girl Scouts of America. Dr. Soto-Hamlin remains active with the Girls Scouts Alumni Association.

Dr. Soto-Hamlin earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry with Distinction and Special Honors at George Washington University in 1976, after which she attained a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. Additional educational pursuits to her credit include an internship and residency at New York Hospital, the Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Soto-Hamlin is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is Certified and Accredited in image guided biopsies by the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Among her industry-related organizations, Dr. Soto-Hamlin is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons and the Physicians for Social Responsibility. Dr. Soto-Hamlin was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Oncology Group and was past president and former board member of the Pennsylvania Oncologic Society.

Recognized more than a dozen times for her work in medicine, Dr. Soto-Hamlin was more recently named as a Central Pennsylvania Healthcare Hero in 2016 and was named to the Consumer Research Council's America's Top Surgeons in 2014. She received a 2009 Central Pennsylvania Coalition to Fight Cancer Community Service Award, a 2009 Pinnacle Health System Physician Leadership Award and, among others, was honored with several volunteer and community service awards and certificates of merit. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Soto-Hamlin has been included in the 55th edition of Who's Who in America and the second and third editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
