He initially pursued an education at the University of Mississippi, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in electrical engineering in 1991. His interest in real estate was sparked after overhearing two women in a restaurant talking about real estate. Claiming that he would get a real estate license if they would prove to him that purchasing property was a stronger financial decision than renting, Mr. Karahan returned to work for one of the women upon obtaining his license to practice.
After the sale of his first firm, Mr. Karahan accepted a position at another brokerage, only to be downsized. Avowing to never again work for another person, he established HomeSmart First Advantage Realty in 1996. To this day, Mr. Karahan remains active as the chief executive officer and the president of the company, which employs more than 140 people at three offices located across New Jersey.
Mr. Karahan credits his professional success to his exemplary understanding of psychology and his ability to help others get what they want.
