Mr. Baden received a Master of Arts in American political history from Pittsburg State University in 1974, and subsequently completed coursework in history at the University of Kansas in 1976. Influenced by the current events of the second oil embargo, Mr. Baden worked on a paper detailing the causes of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, which saw the United States cut off Japan's access to oil.
