Prior to his present commitments, Mr. Sczudlo was a private practice attorney who represented the Law Offices of Paul A. Sczudlo between 2009 and 2016. He also dedicated many years to the firm of Loeb and Loeb in Los Angeles as an associate and partner, from 1980 to 2009.
Mr. Sczudlo is a regular contributor to various legal publications. He also lectures prolifically on matters pertaining to international and tax law to the high net worth community. Mentored by many successful tax lawyers throughout Los Angeles during the course of his career, Mr. Sczudlo also had the opportunity to associate with some of the most talented accountants in the area as well. Presently, he enjoys contributing to his profession by mentoring the younger associates at his office. Among his local commitments, Mr. Sczudlo serves as a member of the finance council and a parishioner at St. Monica Catholic Church.
Born in Alaska, Mr. Sczudlo drew a great deal of inspiration from his father, who was an attorney in his own right. After graduating from high school, he attended the prestigious Yale University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English 1977, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1980. Mr. Sczudlo has been admitted to the California Bar Association, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District Court of California.
To support his professional endeavors, Mr. Sczudlo has been aligned with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners as the chairperson of its Los Angeles branch, and secretary of STEP/USA. He has also been a member of several other professional organizations, including the California Bar Association where he was once served as the chairperson of the international tax committee and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, where he was the chairperson of its taxation section. Additionally, Mr. Sczudlo is the former chairperson of the American Bar Association's international private client committee and a member of the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the Los Angeles International Tax Club and the Los Angeles Tax Forum.
Named as a Super Lawyer every year since 2004, Mr. Sczudlo has also been included in Best Lawyers every year since 2006.
