Dr. Sajkov has served as the director, senior consultant, chief executive officer, chairperson and board director of the Australian Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Institute (ARASMI) in Adelaide, Australia, since 2011. The Institute focuses on developing new treatments, as well as cutting-edge technologies that will help those suffering with chronic respiratory diseases. Dr. Sajkov has also been working at the Flinders Medical Centre in Bedford Park as a senior staff specialist in the department of respiratory and sleep medicine since 2003, and with the Flinders Private Hospital as the clinical director of southern sleep since 2010.

Dr. Sajkov has taught at Flinders University of South Australia as an associate professor since 2018. First serving in 1987 as a medical registrar and lecturer in internal medicine at the University Clinical Centre in the faculty of medicine at the University of Skopje in Macedonia, he has earned distinction in his career for more than 30 years. During this time, Dr. Sajkov has held myriad faculty appointments at several other institutions and hospitals.

In 2009, Dr. Sajkov established the Sleep Laboratory and Southern Sleep consulting service. Located at the Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders Private Hospital, it is a specialized service that serves to diagnose and manage such disorders as obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea and restless legs and periodic limb movement syndromes. Based in Adelaide, Australia, the organization works with patients with private insurance and Medicare, as well as Veterans.

During the length of his illustrious career, Dr. Sajkov was responsible for establishing non-invasive ventilation protocols for acute hypercapnic respiratory failure in 2008 on the respiratory ward at Flinders Medical Centre and for developing and managing a regional service for pulmonary vascular diseases and pulmonary hypertension in 2004 in the southern Adelaide region. He has notably been active on numerous committees, such as the steering committee of the Society of Macedonian Professionals of S.A. and as the chairperson of the educational subcommittee of the Federal Union of the Medical Schools in Yugoslavia. Dr. Sajkov remains an expert consultant for several organizations, including the IMS Health Research and The Minter Group.

Dr. Sajkov has served as a principal investigator on more than 55 studies. Some of his research interests include pulmonary hemodynamics, sleep and sleep disordered breathing, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (or COPD) and asthma, vaccines, adjuvants and respiratory infections. He has likewise maintained activity as an invited lecturer at various speaking events since 2009. He has also authored numerous articles in various scholarly journals, as well as abstracts, authored chapters in two medical books in 2011 and 2013, served as a peer reviewer for various professional articles, including the European Heart Journal and the Journal of Respirator Medicine and was an invited research grants reviewer. Furthermore, Dr. Sajkov distinguished himself as an international editor for the Macedonian Information and Liaison Service from 1994 to 2000.

Dr. Sajkov's extensive educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine, a Master of Medical Science and a Doctor of Science from Saints Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje in 1983, 1988 and 1996, respectively, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy from Flinders University in 2001. He completed his internship at the University Clinical Centre in Skopje, between 1983 and 1984, and a residency as a medical officer and trainee in medicine at the University Clinical Centre and the Military Medical Academy and Medical Centre in Belgrade, Serbia, between 1986 and 1987. Aligned with several local and international professional organizations, Dr. Sajkov is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, the Australasian Sleep Association, the European Respiratory Society and, among others, the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.

In recognition of his tireless efforts in medicine and research, Dr. Sajkov has secured numerous grants and was the recipient of a Young Investigator Award in 1994 and a Best Presentation Award in Sleep Physiology and a John Read Prize in Physiological Research in 2002 from the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand. He was also named to the Clinical Trials Honor Roll every year between 2009 and 2014. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Sajkov has been included in over 25 editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
