James Payne has been Inducted into the Marquis Who's Who Registry

Mr. Payne has prospered greatly as a parish priest at Saint Thomas of Canterbury Church



    HOUSTON, TEXAS, June 30, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James Payne has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Payne is well known in traditional Anglican circles as a parish priest with more than 40 years of service to his faith community. He initially pursued an education at Lon Morris College, Jacksonville, Texas, earning an Associate of Arts in 1974, and continued his studies with a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Houston in 1976. Subsequently obtaining a Master of Arts in bank management from the Southwestern School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Mr. Payne subsequently graduated with a Master of Arts in religion in 1990 from St. George's School of Theology, Woolsey Hall, Oxford. He also holds a Master of Divinity from the Cummins Theological Seminary, earned in 2003.

Raised in a religious family, Mr. Payne did not feel a call to ministry until later in life. He flourished in a fifteen-year career in the financial sector before enrolling in seminary part-time in the 1970s. He currently serves as the Canon to the Presiding Bishop and is the archdeacon of the Diocese of Mid-America, assisting in supervising all diocesan clergy. He also serves as a member of the regular faculty at Cranmer Theological House, the seminary of the Diocese of Mid-America of the Reformed Episcopal Church and teaches classes in Church History and Canon Law. Mr. Payne has also found success as the rector of Saint Thomas of Canterbury Church, Houston, Texas, where he manages daily operations and the spiritual life of the parish.

In 2008, Mr. Payne was presented with an honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree for his lifetime contributions to the church by the Theological Commission of the Reformed Episcopal Church. He remains involved in church leadership and is active as the president of the Board of Pensions of the Reformed Episcopal Church. A member and the past president of the Rotary Club of Pearland, Texas, Mr. Payne enjoys travel, history, community and international service projects, and mentoring others. Mr. Payne has been married for over 40 years to his wife, Deborah, and they have two grown daughters and a grandson they adore.
