Brigitta G. Baumert, MD, PhD, MBA, Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Medicine

Dr. Baumert channels her considerable expertise in radiation-oncology to her work with Kantonsspital Graubunden



Dr. Brigitta G. Baumert has contributed to a plethora of publications, clinical research and clinical trials over the last 20 years.

    CHUR, SWITZERLAND, July 09, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brigitta G. Baumert, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Originally driven to study music, Dr. Baumert pursued a career in medicine to foster her career ambitions. Eventually coming to realize a true passion for the field, she presently excels as the head of Institute for Kantonsspital Graubunden in Switzerland, where she implements corporate strategy related to patient care, personnel management, performance and economy, and the new building. Additionally, Dr. Baumert maintains a keen interest in brain tumors and new radiotherapy treatment techniques, including stereotactic radiotherapy and intensity modulated radiotherapy.

Apart from her work at Kantonsspital Graubunden, Dr. Baumert parlays her considerable expertise into serving as the secretary general of the executive committee and as a member of the Brain Tumour Group with the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). Earlier until 2013, she had also found success as an associate professor for Maastro Clinic through the School of Oncology and Developmental Biology at the Maastricht University The Netherlands. Throughout the course of her professional journey, Dr. Baumert has gained valuable expertise in executive, administration and educational roles with the University Hospital of Maastricht, the University Hospital of Zurich, MediClin Robert Janker Klinik, the Paracelsusklinik Osnabrück and the University of Bonn in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany.

An acclaimed industry expert, Dr. Baumert earned a Doctor of Medicine through Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg, now known as the University of Freiburg, in 1987. She subsequently undertook a residency in radiation-oncology at the University Hospital Zurich in 2002, and finished a PhD in 2004 on stereotactic radiotherapy at the University of Maastricht and received a Master of Business Administration from the Maastricht School of Management in 2012. Following the conclusion of her academic efforts, Dr. Baumert has retained her professional alignment with such organizations as the European and American Societies for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the Swiss Society of Medical Radiology, the Scientific Association of Swiss Radiation Oncology, the Swiss Institute for Applied Cancer Research, the European Association of Neuro-Oncology and the European Platform of Cancer Research's radiotherapy cooperative and brain tumor cooperative groups.

With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Dr. Baumert has contributed to a plethora of publications, clinical research and clinical trials over the last 20 years. To wit, she wrote "Temozolomide chemotherapy versus radiotherapy in high-risk low-grade glioma. A randomized phase III Intergroup study by EORTC/NCIC-CTG/TROG/MRC-CTU (EORTC 22033-26033)," "EORTC 22972-26991/MRC BR10 trial: Fractionated stereotactic boost following conventional radiotherapy of high grade gliomas. Clinical and quality-assurance results of the stereotactic boost arm ," "Predictors of Volumetric Growth and Auditory Deterioration in Vestibular Schwannomas Followed in a Wait and Scan Policy" and "Early improvements in vision after fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy for primary optic nerve sheath meningioma " to name only a few. Devoted to those less fortunate, Dr. Baumert co-founded Friends of Organ Building in order to help finance and construct a new organ for Saint Bruder Klaus Gundelfingen. Since the mid-1980s, she has also supported Saint Thomas Hospital and Leprosy Center in Southern India through their sponsorship program. Due to her ongoing excellence in radiation-oncology, she received the honorary membership from the BVRO/ABRO (Belgian Association of Oncological Radiotherapy)."
