An experienced international attorney and corporate executive for more than 50 years, Mr. Demouth retired from Valent U.S.A. Corporation – a subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical - in Walnut Creek, California in 2015. As the acting President, General Counsel, Secretary and Treasurer, he managed the aforementioned company's agricultural, turf/ornamental and consumer business operations across the U.S., as well as in Canada, Mexico and Latin America. Beginning his professional journey as an associate attorney for Madsen & Friese in Chicago, Mr. Demouth dedicated two years to the firm before being recruited by Stewart-Warner Corporation, an American manufacturer of vehicle instruments in Chicago.

Promoted from an attorney to a senior attorney, Mr. Demouth further flourished as the Secretary, the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel prior to 1983. Subsequently he was hired by Sandoz Corporation, a Swiss Chemical company headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois where he served as the Secretary and General Counsel. He remained with the crop protection corporation until 1998, at which point he moved to California to work for Valent U.S.A. Active as a member of the Great Lakes Commission and the International Trade and Port Promotional Advisor Committee in Illinois, Mr. Demouth has been affiliated with the Easter Seal Society of Metropolitan Chicago, for which he thrived as General Counsel and the Vice President between 1983 and 1987.

Mr. Demouth initially pursued an education at the University of Virginia. Soon thereafter, he obtained a law degree from the John Marshall Law School (now the University of Illinois) in 1965 and a Master of Laws at the Lawyer's Institute in 1970. Six years later, he earned a master's degree in Business Administration at the University of Chicago in 1976. Mr. Demouth has been admitted to practice law by the Illinois Bar Association, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Seventh Circuits and the Supreme Court of California under the provisions of the multi-jurisdictional district practice.

To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Demouth has been a member of the American Bar Association, the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, the American Association of Corporate Counsel, the Chicago Bar Association and the Economic Club of Chicago. Additionally, Mr. Demouth served as the former vice chairman and chairman of the law committee of the National Agricultural Chemical Association. He has been further associated with the Island Goat Sailing Society – which requires participation of 25 Chicago to Mackinaw Island sailboat races, the Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing Foundation, where he once served as a Director, and the Chicago Yacht Club, with which he has participated on the board of directors and in the roles of the Vice Commodore and Commodore. Proudly facilitating the John Goldman Adaptive Sailing Program for handicapped sailors, a program he formed with the Chicago Yacht Club. He was selected among the Top 20 General Counsels by the state of California for 2012. Likewise, Mr. Demouth has been celebrated as a Marquis listee who has been showcased in approximately 15 editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the West.
