Having accrued more than three decades of inimitable expertise in the field of Engineering and Business, Dr. Greer has garnered a laudable reputation as a professor and administrator. She is currently the associate dean of Mike Illitch School of Business at Wayne State University, where she also serves as an associate professor of global supply chain management. Throughout the course of her career in academia, she has been a visiting scholar and professor at the University of East London in the United Kingdom and Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul, South Korea and other Universities such as Bowling Green State University, Northern Kentucky and the University of Dayton. Professionally, Dr. Greer has conducted research in supply chain management, buyer supplier relationships, quality and project management, diversity and change management, supplier sustainability and institutional uncertainty.
While coming of age, Dr. Greer noticed a dearth of African-American educators throughout academia. As an underrepresented minority, she was thus inspired to pursue a position in the professorate so that she could stand as an example to young people. With an interest in math and science, she decided to focus her studies on engineering, receiving a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Toledo, College of Engineering. In concluding her academic efforts, Dr. Greer received a Master of Business Administration in management from the University of Toledo and a Doctor of Philosophy in business administration from Kent State University.
As a respected voice in her field, Dr. Greer has contributed countless peer-reviewed articles to professional journals. Most recently, she co-authored "Institutional Uncertainty and Supply Chain Quality Management: A Conceptual Framework" in the Quality Management Journal. In light of her demonstrated skill, she has received a wealth of recognition from various organizations and institutions pertinent to her area of expertise. Dr. Greer was bestowed with the Best Theoretical Paper award of 2018 by the Decision Science Institute, the Best Visual Paper Award from the Academy of Management in 2005, the Best Paper Award at the 2004 Midwest Decision Sciences annual meeting, Delta Gamma teaching impact recognition and an Excellence in Professional Mentoring Award. She was also Vice president of Diverse Voices and co-founder of the Multicultural Professional Readiness Program (MPREP) for under-represented minority students in business.
As a dedicated professional, Dr. Greer has attributed her success to her abiding Christian faith and endearing support from her husband and children. She is also grateful for the small team of professional friends and colleagues that have always supported and encouraged her along the way. Likewise, her mentors have always encourage her drive to achieve her goals. Looking toward the future, Dr. Greer aspires to accept a higher leadership role in academia.
