Leslie Lee Ferguson Jr. Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Ferguson has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of education and beekeeping

BANNING, CA, July 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Leslie Lee Ferguson Jr. with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Ferguson celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having accrued more than three decades of experience in his professional journey, Mr. Ferguson garnered a laudable reputation as the vice president and manager of Huston-Ferguson Apiaries, a beekeeping farm located in Moreno Valley. He and his brother notably purchased the company in 1979, and were shortly thereafter joined by their third brother, James, who served as an account due to his allergy to bees. Closely-knit while coming of age together, the brothers Ferguson succeeded in their endeavors largely due to the teachings of their parents, who had conveyed to them the value of hard work. Huston-Ferguson notably enjoyed more than 20 years in business before Mr. Ferguson decided to retire in 2000.

At the age of 12, Mr. Ferguson was employed locally during the summer months for a local beekeeping business, where he learned how to work with bees and methods on how to extract honey. He later worked for another beekeeper, where he gained even more experience in apiculture. While attending high school as a student at the Pioneer Valley Academy, Mr. Ferguson kept his own bees to make honey, and was permitted to release them to pollinate the apple trees that were planted on campus. Deeply involved in the beekeeping industry, he was involved with the regulations for the Bee Protection Act in 1987. He also served an appointed position on the California Apiary Board during 1993 and spent more than ten years as the editor of the quarterly journal, the California Bee Times.

Prior to Mr. Ferguson's career as a beekeeper, he worked for over a decade as a secondary school teacher. He initially taught music and French at the Highland View Academy in Hagerstown, Maryland, between 1967 and 1971. Likewise, Mr. Ferguson later taught French at his own high school, the Pioneer Valley Academy in New Braintree, Massachusetts, between 1971 and 1979.

An alumnus of Loma Linda University, Mr. Ferguson has held a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts since 1965 and 1973, respectively. He also served for two years in the U.S. Army while pursuing his degrees, serving to the rank of a sergeant colonel between 1965 and 1967. Mr. Ferguson remains active as a choir member at the Loma Linda University church, where he performed virtual performances during the coronavirus pandemic of 2020. He also contributed for 15 years with the John T. Hamilton Choral, where they were recognized as the first choir ever to perform at the National Choirs Festival in Gloucester, England.

To remain aware of developments effecting his respective fields, Mr. Ferguson has maintained his professional affiliation with several pertinent organizations. To wit, he is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. To support his second career as an apiculturist, Mr. Ferguson has been a member of the American Beekeeping Federation and is a past president of the California State Beekeepers Associations, where he was named as the Beekeeper of the Year in 1994, as well as an Honorary Lifetime Beekeeper in 2005.
