Inspired by her parents, both of who are orthopedic physical therapists, Dr. Gesik was inspired to pursue a career in healthcare. At the beginning of her career, she gained valuable expertise as an instructor for Pacific Northwest Pilates between 2002 and 2004. While pursuing an education in medicine, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of Portland and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the School of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Pikeville in 2008. Subsequently, Dr. Gesik completed a residency at Oregon Health and Science University in 2011 and a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2012.
Following her fellowship, Dr. Gesik volunteered as a medical consultant for the University of Hawai'i Athletics from 2012 until 2013. In the years since, she has excelled as the co-founder and a physician with IMUA Orthopedics, Sports & Health, with which she provides tailored care that pinpoints the underlying causes of medical and musculoskeletal issues. A board-certified family and sports physician, Dr. Gesik has additional expertise in osteopathic manipulative treatments and functional medicine.
An expert in her field, Dr. Gesik is certified as a mat and reformer instructor through the Stott Pilates Institute and a functional medicine practitioner through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). With IFM, she has also studied advanced clinical training in pediatrics and reversing cognitive decline, applying functional medicine in clinical practice, cardiometabolic advanced practice and bioenergetics, among others. In order to remain aware of changes in the ever-evolving medical field, she is a lifelong learner steeped in applying personalized precision medical care for her patients.
