Desarae Latino-Davis Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Special Education

Ms. Latino-Davis works with children with a range of disabilities at Northeast Academy Arts Magnet Elementary School



Desarae Latino-Davis was inducted into the UCONN-Avery Point Athletic Hall of Fame two times.

    GROTON, CT, July 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Desarae Latino-Davis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Inspired to enter the field by a friend, Ms. Latino-Davis began her career in education as a substitute teacher in the following roles regular education and special education teacher with the New London Public School system between 1995 and 2001. Here she substituted in various grade levels from kindergarten to grade 12. Subsequently, she found success with the Groton Public Schools system starting at Cutler Middle School and thus presently at Northeast Academy Arts Magnet Elementary School for the last 10 years as a special education teacher, with which she remains to this day. As a special education teacher, Ms. Latino-Davis supervises behavior modification activities in the classroom and provides academic support services to children with a broad range of disabilities.

In pursuit of her career, Ms. Latino-Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. She later obtained a Master of Science in Special Education. Ms. Latino-Davis remains aware of changes in the field through her affiliations with the Groton Education Association, Connecticut Education Association, the National Education Association, the Connecticut Athletic Trainers' Association and the National Athletic Trainers' Association.

Due to her outstanding accomplishments in the field, Ms. Latino-Davis was inducted into the UCONN-Avery Point Athletic Hall of Fame two times. Once for Athletic Training and the other for being a part of the first ever World Series baseball team for the school. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is especially proud of witnessing her students' successes. Additionally, she loves hearing the feedback from the parents of her students when they witness something in their children that they had never seen before. Looking ahead, Ms. Latino-Davis aims to experience the continued growth and success of both her careers.
