Mr. Bowdre is renowned as a retired manufacturing management expert celebrating over 45 years of leadership in the packaging industry. He is an alumnus of the School of Business Administration at the University of Mississippi, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Public Administration in 1972. After college, Mr. Bowdre was hired as a summer helper at a can manufacturing plant for the National Can Corporation located in Collierville, Tennessee.
Initially intended to be a temporary hire, Mr. Bowdre quickly gained a professional reputation for his excellent work ethic and leadership skills. He advanced through the ranks at the factory, garnering diverse experience at all levels of the operation, before being appointed as Plant Manager in 1980. Over the next 30 years, he held the position of Plant Manager in the can manufacturing industry for National Can Corporation, Pechiney Corporation, American National Corporation, and Silgan Containers Corporation until his retirement in 2017.
Mr. Bowdre attributes his upward career trajectory to his drive to succeed and his desire to constantly learn new things. In his retirement, he plans to dedicate more time mentoring youth in the community and volunteering with organizations benefiting workers and job-seekers. A man of faith, Mr. Bowdre is an ordained Deacon and remains in active service to his church congregation.
