Dr. Masa Noguchi Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Architecture

Dr. Noguchi draws upon decades of expertise in his work with the Zero Energy Mass Custom Home Network and as an associate professor at the University of Melbourne

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, August 04, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Masa Noguchi has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

As a young man living in Japan, Dr. Noguchi obtained a working holiday visa to work as a volunteer carpenter assistant at a crippled children's summer camp in British Columbia, Canada. During this time, he discovered a love of carpentry and design that instilled in him a desire to improve the quality of housing for all. Upon graduating with his doctorate, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher for CanmetENERGY-Varennes of Natural Resources Canada, where he focused on the mass customization, sustainable architecture, domestic energy modeling, low/zero-energy/carbon housing design techniques, renewable energy technologies and value analysis in design and construction systems. While with CanmetENERGY, Dr. Noguchi developed an interactive mass custom design tool tailored for the Concordia University's 2005 Solar Decathlon housing prototype development.

Following his work with CanmetENERGY, Dr. Noguchi accepted a position with the Mackintosh School of Architecture at The Glasgow School of Art, serving as a lecturer in architectural technology between 2006 and 2011. He subsequently flourished in several roles at the aforementioned school, including as a senior lecturer and a reader in architectural technology. He currently excels as an associate professor in environmental design at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at The University of Melbourne, Australia. A certified passive house designer registered with the Passive House Institute in Germany, Dr. Noguchi is also active as the founding global coordinator of the Zero Energy Mass Custom Home Network (ZEMCH), a nonprofit organization that consists of 795 partners in 45 countries who consistently aim to design and build energy-efficient inclusive and healthy sustainable housing and communities in developed and developing countries.

During the late 1990s, Dr. Noguchi earned a Bachelor of Engineering from Kogakuin University. Subsequently, he received a Master of Architecture and a Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture from McGill University in 2000 and 2004, respectively. Over the years, he also completed a value engineering module one certification through SAVE International and McGill University and a postgraduate certificate in learning and teaching from the University of the Arts in London.. Dr. Noguchi remains aware of changes in the field through his professional alignment with the Institution of Engineering Designers in the UK, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Council of Engineering in the UK, among others.

Buoyed by his extensive knowledge, Dr. Noguchi found success as an editorial board member for a plethora of journals, including but not limited to Open House International, Sustainability and SAGE Open. Additionally, he has contributed to a myriad of edited and co-authored books, chapters and research articles. The Publications include "ZEMCH: Toward the Delivery of Zero Energy Mass Custom Homes," "Prefab Housing and the Future of Building," "ZEMCH Strategic Framework for Low Carbon Solutions in Sustainable Housing Delivery," "Multi-objective optimizations of life cycle costs, thermal and visual discomfort of a prefabricated house in eight climate zones" and "Profiling Space Heating Behavior in Chilean Social Housing: Towards Personalization of Energy Efficiency Measures." In light of his outstanding professional accomplishments, he received the Team Award from Natural Resources Canada, the Teaching and Learning Award for Innovative Teaching through the Melbourne School of Design at The University of Melbourne in 2016 and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, a feature in Who's Who in the World. Dr. Noguchi aims to continue his exemplary work with his established ZEMCH R&D activities and today's emerging environmental experience design (EXD) research in global contexts.
