An accomplished listee, Dr. Trufant celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With more than 30 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Trufant has found modest success as an inventor/researcher. Dr. Trufant has a US Design Patent (2002) # D467615s; "Surface Pattern for an Intergroup Working Model for Social Conflict Resolution Applied to a Setting or Room for Adults." (USPTO, Wash, DC). And a US (Utility) Patent Application Publication (2006) No. 2006/00281059; "Method and Setting for Social Conflict Resolution (USPTO, DC).

The purpose of this invention/model is to help adults take personal responsibility for their behavior participating in resolution of differences, and problem solving through interactive learning. Dr. Trufant has developed the model so it can be utilized in different situations such as interpersonal & family violence, and political global conflicts.

Dr. Trufant's work on her invention began in 1986, after her general clinical internship at the University of California Los Angeles in 1974, at which time she initially became interested in Tavistock group relations and intergroup workable collaborations. This research culminated in her responding to a call for papers and applying to various organizations to present her idea/model between 1986 and 1989, to no avail; yet she discovered within 2 years that her idea had been taken by the first organization, & shared with others. Nevertheless, Dr. Trufant persevered and in 1999, her idea/model was accepted as a Poster Session by the Society for Community Research and Action, Division 27, American Psychological Association at their 7th Biennial Conference, and presented by her on June 10, 1999 (Ballrm 15, Group IV Theme: Interpersonal and Family Violence) at Yale University.

Dr. Trufant is the owner of a consulting business, Intergroup Resolutions, since 2006, the basis of which at present is to develop a solid, workable business plan. She also taught as an Emergency 3D-day Substitute Teacher in various Bay Area school districts between 1998 and 2008, having previously been active in this role for grades K-12 in Oakland from 1986 to 1991 and 1993 to 1997. In 1992, Dr. Trufant briefly worked as a Civilian Clinical Psychologist, & Team Leader for the US Air Force in Naples, Italy, and as a Disaster Mental Health Services Technician for the American Red Cross in Kauai, Hawaii, following Hurricane Iniki, and in 1991 as a Mental Health Crisis Team Member, Oakland, CA fire.

Dr. Trufant also taught in the Department of Educational Psychology, Division of Clinical Counseling, California State University, East Bay, Hayward, CA as a Temporary Lecturer in 1989 and in the Law School at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, briefly, as a Minority Student Counselor in 1979. Moreover, she also served as a Staff Psychologist at the Des Moines Child Guidance Center from 1978 to 1981 and periodically as a facilitator for various community psychoeducational groups such as the Metro Women's Network, Des Moines, 1982. Dr. Trufant began her career with a Pre-Doctoral General Internship and Research Fellowship at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the University of California Los Angeles from 1974 through 1975.

She has also had several book reviews appear in Readings: A Journal of Reviews and Commentary in Mental Health, published by the American Orthopsychiatric Association, including reviews of "Racial and Ethnic Identity: Psychological Development and Creative Expression" in 1996 [11(2), 24]; "Competence, Courage, and Change: An Approach to Family Therapy" in 1994 [9(2), 28]; and "Communicating Racism: Ethnic Prejudice in Thought and Talk" in 1988 [3(4),27]. Furthermore, Dr. Trufant's letter to the editor, "On Topsy and Additive Relationships," was published in the American Journal ofOrthopsychiatry,1983 [53(3),548-549] and she also participated as a panelist on the daytime television show "People Are Talking" on KPIX-TV in 1989 re the intra-group issue of Skin Color amongst AfroAmericans.

Prior to embarking on her professional path, Dr. Trufant pursued a formal education at the University of California Berkeley, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1969. Soon thereafter, she concluded her studies at Michigan State University, obtaining a Master of Arts in 1972 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1977. A Licensed Psychologist in the States of Wisconsin and California, Dr. Trufant has additionally received a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and is soon to become a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), through a Wisconsin group.

In addition, Dr. Trufant was awarded two fellowships from the National Institutes of Mental Health in 1970 and 1971. She was also designated as a dissertation fellow of the Black Analysis Inc., a subsidiary of the Administration for Children & Families (ACYF) in 1976. Moreover, Dr. Trufant is a lifetime member of the American Psychological Association and holds further affiliation with the American Group Psychotherapy Association as a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP).
