Mr. Mirante helped to found the firm's New York City office in 2012 and then established offices in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Long Island to build the firm's formidable Tri State operations. He is also active on the firm's executive operating and technology committees, and serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the firm. Having accrued four decades of expertise in the field, Mr. Mirante is the former chief executive officer of Cushman and Wakefield, another highly respected global commercial real estate services firm. There he served as global CEO for twenty years and significantly increased the company's revenue and expanded from 60 domestic offices to 173 offices around the world. Prior to his commitments at Cushman and Wakefield, he spent three years as a practicing attorney.
In a career suffused with highlights, Mr. Mirante is particularly proud to have surrounded himself with highly intelligent and successful professionals, as well as sophisticated clients who have entrusted him with significant challenges and assignments during his service at two major real estate firms. Throughout his career, he has especially enjoyed participating in several large and sophisticated real estate transactions, some of which notably included a long-term lease at 75 Rockefeller Plaza to RXR, a $1.72 billion sale at 200 Park Avenue for client Metropolitan Life, and the sale of the World Trade Center. In addition to his full-time commitments at the Avison Young, Mr. Mirante is also a founder, shareholder and a member of the board of Regal Bank, a local community bank in Livingston, New Jersey with seven branches.
Lending his time and expertise to various community organizations and nonprofits, Mr. Mirante is actively involved with the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, The Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, and Help USA. He received a Bachelor of Science in sociology at the College of the Holy Cross in 1965 and attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence at St. John's University in 1968. , and an honorary degree in Humane Letters from St. John's University.
In 2003, Mr. Mirante received a Business Volunteer of the Year Award from the Arts and Business Council. He received several other accolades for his leadership throughout the community as well, including from the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Saint John's University and The College of the Holy Cross. Additionally, he and his wife were bestowed with an award for their efforts at the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. For his outstanding contributions to real estate, Mr. Mirante was named as the Best International Real Estate Professional by Barcelona Meeting Point, a leading European real estate exhibition and symposium.
