SAINT LOUIS, MO, August 11, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rodrick Burton has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having earned a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts from Concordia University and a Master of Arts in education ministry from the Covenant Theological Seminary, Mr. Burton notably wrote "The Moral State of Black America," a book which examined the collective African American morality from a biblical perspective. This accomplishment was completed while attending seminary. He felt called to share his faith and serve humanity with a higher purpose.

Before accepting his call to pastoring, Burton first served as an assistant to the church leadership and performed maintenance at another congregation which proved to be providential in preparing him to holistically lead at New Northside Missionary Baptist Church. His work history includes brief ventures into the retail field, grocery work, the healthcare field as well as military service in the United States Marine Reserves before taking on the role of a senior pastor at the New Northside Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis.

During his tenor as pastor, Burton has lead the New Northside Missionary Baptist Church through historic events such as the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri (2014), the arson attacks on area churches (2015), The Shockey Verdict unrest (2016), and the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic all while raising twins.

Throughout the course of his career leading a prominent and historic church, Mr. Burton has also excelled as a mentor and visiting instructor of applied theology at Covenant Theological Seminary. Moreover, he earned distinction as the president of the Saint Louis Airport Interfaith Chaplaincy and a member of the Saint Louis Clean Air Advisory Committee, which is was created due to successful creation of a bill that committed St. Louis to bring clean energy to the city for future decades. In his efforts to reduce violence in St. Louis, Burton worked with the St. Louis Initiative to Reduce Violence (SIRV), founded the St. Louis Chapter of Mothers In Charge; and opened a violence de-escalation center at his church. As a respected voice in his community, he has been a columnist for several metropolitan area periodicals. Likewise, Mr. Burton has been most proud to serve the membership of his church and lead it in advocacy for environmental justice and police reforms.

In accounting for his standout success, Mr. Burton credits dedication to prayer, study and prolific reading, a willingness to learn and most importantly, the love of his wife Carlotta. He maintains his professional and community affiliations with the Saint Louis Metropolitan Clergy Coalition, the Ecumenical Leadership Council, the Jennings Clergy Coalition, the Baptist Minister's Union of Saint Louis and Vicinity, the Pastoral Fellowship of Saint Louis, the Interfaith Partnership of Greater Saint Louis, the International Association of Civil Aviation Chaplains and A Clearing Plus Foundation. In the coming years, Mr. Burton plans to continue serving others in a greater capacity.
