A celebrated Marquis listee, John Joseph Hanrahan has been cited in the 25th edition of Who's Who in the East.

Mr. Hanrahan, a former automotive executive, enjoyed a long and successful career that spanned nearly four decades. Retiring in 1996 after a dozen years with Hino Diesel Trucks (USA) Inc., he likewise earned distinction as the company's vice president of sales and marketing. He formerly found success for more than two and a half decades with International Harvester Company, a truck and engine manufacturer headquartered in Chicago, where he advanced from a sales engineer to a zone manager, new product development manager and director of marketing in its heavy truck division between 1958 and 1982. Following this accomplishment, Mr. Hanrahan spent another two years as the manager of its Washington office between 1982 and 1984 before being recruited by Hino Diesel Trucks.

A native of Albany, New York, Mr. Hanrahan studied locally, receiving a bachelor's degree in management engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, in 1954. He then served for two years in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant and test officer for the TransArctic Group in Thule, Greenland, between 1954 and 1956. Accepted to the prestigious Harvard University shortly thereafter, Mr. Hanrahan attained a Master of Business Administration in 1958.

Leading several community initiatives during his career, Mr. Hanrahan was involved on the board of directors of the United Way from 1978 until 1980. He was also the president of the Suburban Township Association for the Retarded between 1978 and 1981, excelled on the board of directors of the Clearbrook Center from 1979 to 1982, was a trade representative for the ISAC-U.S. Department of Commerce between 1983 and 1984 and a member of the Washington Export Council from 1983 until 1984.
