Dr. Cecilia B. Calderon's groundbreaking work in applying ultrasound diagnostic processes to breast malignancies would become her best-known research development.

    YORK, PA, August 18, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cecilia B. Calderon, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Calderon is a pathologist, educator, and clinician with a career spanning five decades of service to her patients and specialty. Inspired to follow her father's path into a career in medicine, she was initially intrigued by surgical pathology before discovering ultrasound pathology, where she would contribute for most of her career. In 1970, Dr. Calderon became a diplomate of the American Board of Pathology. She completed her pathology residencies at the prestigious Boston University and Georgetown University and a Surgical Pathology Fellowship at the University of Heidelberg, Germany .She did a Fellowship in Clinicl1 Oncology at Wilmington Medical Center, Delaware.

From 1973 to 1975, Dr. Calderon was an assistant professor of pathology at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital, Philadelphia Pennsylvania. While at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital" and in charge of Surgical Pathology Department, she pioneered the use of ultrasound technologies to detect mammary tumors as part of a joint program with RCA Laboratories, Princeton, New Jersey. Her groundbreaking work in applying ultrasound diagnostic processes to breast malignancies would become her best-known research development. Dr. Calderon presently excels as a provider at the Calderon Medical Clinic, where she continues to direct patient care, with an emphasis on ultrasound diagnostics.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Calderon aspires to research the expanded use of ultrasound procedures in maternal-fetal medicine, particularly regarding the lasting effects on the fetus. As a part of her dedication to supporting her community, she founded Calderon Christian Children's Charity, and is active in Catholic mission work and charity. A gifted musician, she further expresses her commitment to her faith as a composer of Catholic liturgical music. In support of other clinicians and the advancement of the medical profession at large, Dr. Calderon is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Philippine-American Association of Physicians and Fellow of the College of American Pathologists.
