James David Raisbeck Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    SEATTLE, WA, August 20, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present James David Raisbeck with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Raisbeck celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Raisbeck's career in aviation began in 1961 as a research aerodynamicist with Boeing Commercial Airplane Company in Seattle. He later contributed for several years as a new airplane and research out-plant manager at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and as a program manager of commercial STOL airplane programs, until 1969. Dr. Raisbeck subsequently worked for Robertson Aircraft Corporation in Seattle as the president and chief executive officer, during which he was responsible for completing the short takeoff and landing designs and certifications for installation on single and twin engine Cessnas and Pipers, and for American Jet Industries in Los Angeles as the vice president of technology. Dr. Raisbeck ultimately embarked upon his own professional venture in 1974, establishing Raisbeck Group as the chief executive officer, with locations in San Antonio and Seattle.

Dr. Raisbeck's long and successful role as an engineering executive and entrepreneur resulted in the establishment of Raisbeck Engineering Inc. in 1982. A Seattle-based business aerospace and defense company that provides clients with a range of systems to improve both performance and efficiency for aircraft owners, Raisbeck Engineering is comprised of dedicated, talented professionals that work diligently to ensure superior quality. Its subsidiary, Raisbeck Commercial Air Group Inc., was founded in 1996.

Dr. Raisbeck has attained several patents in aircraft design throughout the course of his career. In 1984, he brought to market a line of propellers called the Raisbeck Quiet Turbofan Propeller System for the King Air family, and added revolutionary Swept Blade Turbofan Propellers for the King Air and Twin Otter product line in 2014. These combine with other Raisbeck-designed drag reduction and performance-enhancing systems to achieve unparalleled increases in airplane productivity. Over 4000 such King Airs are now Raisbeck-equipped. Some of his other successful designs have included the 1996 Raisbeck Stage 3 Noise Reduction System for the Boeing 727 and the design and development of bulletproof doors and bulkheads for the Boeing 737 and 757 in 2001. After 9/11, Dr. Raisbeck unveiled the Armored Cockpit Security Systems. Among other designs, he was also responsible for enlarged overhead bins for the Airbus A320, which doubles carry-on storage capacity.

Long involved in philanthropy, Dr. Raisbeck and his wife Sherry have been instrumental in their community. Establishing their own foundation. Its aims are to support education, the arts and medical research. Establishing Raisbeck Aviation High School, a public school in Seattle, their Foundation also provides 4-year scholarship grants to several graduates every year. Dr. Raisbeck has also provided his time and expertise on the board of the Seattle Opera, the Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Seattle Symphony and the Museum of Flight among other local organizations.

Dr. Raisbeck graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in Wisconsin in 1954. He soon joined the U.S. Air Force, where he spent eight years and became a flight engineer. He also began studying at Purdue University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in aerodynamics in 1961. The university later recognized Dr. Raisbeck with an honorary Doctor of Engineering in 2005.

An elected fellow and associate member of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Dr. Raisbeck notably received the Commercial Aviation Technical Achievement Award from the organization in 1999. He was later recognized by the AIAA/Museum of Flight as a Pathfinder in 2007. To support his career, Dr. Raisbeck has also been a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). Other memberships to his credit include the Purdue University Alumni Association, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Eta Sigma and Sigma Gamma Tau.

Well regarded for his exemplary contributions to the field, Dr. Raisbeck has been the recipient of numerous accolades throughout his career. In addition to earning the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award by Purdue University in 1979, he was later acknowledged by the university with its Outstanding Aerospace Engineer Award in 1999. Among other awards, he was named as the Aviation Entrepreneur of the Year by Professional Pilot Magazine in 2000, received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Meritorious Service to Aviation from the National Business Aviation Association in 2002, and was the recipient of the annual Wings of Hope Award from Seattle's Hope Heart Institute in 2003. In recognition of his philanthropic work, Dr. Raisbeck and his wife received the Seattle Citizen of the Year Award in 2007.
