Raised overseas, Dale Melin served his country as a Navy lieutenant in Vietnam.

Returning to civilian life, he became Manager of Compensation for The Pillsbury Company. After a few months with the Company, he became disillusioned and sought a position in marketing. He gained valuable professional expertise at General Motors. Then, he joined Ford as a marketing project leader for Lee Iacocca.
