Drawing inspiration from his father, an engineer in New Orleans, Mr. Tankersley pursued a similar path upon receiving his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. After gaining valuable expertise in the field as a radar technician, he graduated from Delgado Community College with an Associate of Science in electronics servicing in 1981. Mr. Tankersley later began working on radars for ships before honing his skills in television repair.

Subsequently, Mr. Tankersley accepted a position with Oceaneering, with which he excelled for nearly 30 years. Throughout his career, he furthered his education, obtaining various certifications in computer service, radar technology and consumer electronics. Accruing a master certification through the Electronics Technician Association, Mr. Tankersley was additionally licensed in federal grant telecommunications with radar endorsement.

Likewise, Mr. Tankersley became certified in industrial electronics through the International Society of Electronics Technicians. He has also been designated with a telecommunications and A+ certification from the state of Louisiana. Looking toward the future, Mr. Tankersley intends to teach industrial or consumer electronics.
