OAK PARK, IL, August 26, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Margaret Anne White Fleming with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Fleming celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having accrued more than four decades of expertise, Ms. Fleming has garnered a laudable reputation as a private practice therapist in Oak Park, Illinois, since 2015. Licensed as a clinical social worker, she specializes in working with children with special needs, as well as teenagers and adults suffering from depression, addiction, trauma and various LGBTQ issues. Relying on various methods of treatment, including interpersonal therapy and supportive therapy, she also assists parents and children in respect to adoption and foster care. Offering a safe, warm environment for clients where they are free to share their struggles, Ms. Fleming also extends her services by providing in-home therapy to those within 15 miles of her office.

Beginning her career as a teacher after college, Ms. Fleming eventually transitioned toward social work. In 1975, she served as an assistant director at Mercy Hospital, where she remained for four years. Ms. Fleming subsequently founded her first private practice, which she maintained until 1994.

In addition to her commitments as a therapist, Ms. Fleming is an avid advocate for adoption. She earned distinction as the director of Adoption-Link in Chicago between 1992 and 2015. Originally intended as a referral service, the agency soon became licensed in finding homes for children, including those with special needs. Adoption-Link has since facilitated the adoptions of approximately 1,000 children throughout the world. The organization also provided scholarships to parents in order to aid in the cost of international adoption fees and other necessary services.

Ms. Fleming established and co-directed Chance by Choice in Chicago, which operated between 2002 and 2015. The first of its kind to serve in the U.S., Chance by Choice helped find homes for foreign born abandoned children with HIV. During her tenure with the organization, she was responsible for placing 55 children in U.S. homes. Ms. Fleming notably has three biological children, as well as nine adopted children.

While coming of age, Ms. Fleming drew inspiration from her mother, who was a child psychologist. After graduating from high school, she completed a bachelor's degree and ultimately attained a Master of Social Work, with highest honors, at George Williams College in 1974. Celebrated for expertise and leadership, Ms. Fleming was recognized with a Red Cross Hero Award, was named as the Villager of the Year by the town of Oak Park and was the recipient of a Purpose Prize by Encore Health Network. She was also named among Chicago's 100 Most Influential Women by Crain's Chicago Business Magazine in 2004.
