Ms. Berardo accrued several decades of inimitable experience in her field. In her early career Ms. Berardo was the IBM Club Coordinator with responsibilities for hosting company events, managing company recreational center and interfacing with the public. Her efforts led to her first Management position managing the IBM Club, IBM Library and IBM Record Retention. She transitioned to Functional Level Process management and onto the technical field managing Software Developers. Ms. Berardo progressed through management and garnered a laudable reputation as an executive program manager. She was fortunate to be invited to collaborate with an IBM fellow who invented Touch Technology for mobile software and hardware. She developed the technology's business case, after which she managed the software and hardware touch technology integration, and brought the product to market, which stood as the highlight of her professional career.
While employed at IBM, Ms. Berardo had the opportunity to design a curriculum and teach a "Working with People" instructing on the elements of personal career development to approximately 50 employees per class. Additionally, Ms. Berardo taught this course at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tennessee, and the Technical College in Bethesda.
Ms. Berardo previously held the roles of founder and executive director of both the Prince William County Cultural Arts Federation in Manassas, Virginia in the early 80's and the Gig Harbor Key Peninsula Cultural Arts Commission in Washington between 1992 and 2002. She was likewise active on the Gig Harbor Peninsula Area Chamber of Commerce from 1999 to 2001, Gig Harbor Historical Society Board Member, Gig Harbor Rotary and Lion's Clubs.
Ms. Berardo utilized her skills and expertise to serve local citizens. She found success as the executive director of the Clarksville Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council in Tennessee between 2003 and 2005. While in this position she assisted the Clarksville Mount Olive Committee in gaining their Non-Profit certification and acquiring a Confederate Cemetery, initiating a weekly Art Walk in partnership with Austin Peay University, providing a grant to the Clarksville Rotary Club for a Veteran War Heroes project within the Court House and Dunbar Cave Director.
After graduating with an Associate of Applied Science in business management from Northern Virginia Community College, Ms. Berardo received a Bachelor of Arts Certification in library science from Texas Western University. She is also a classical arts graduate of Concoran School of Art. She has completed IBM management courses throughout the U.S., including at Georgetown University, and IBM related behavioral science course at George Mason University. Eminently qualified in her field, Ms. Berardo is certified in program management through Princeton University and configuration management through George Washington University. Among her professional memberships, Ms. Berardo is the Summerville Noon Rotary Club' former secretary, vice president and 2021 president. Moreover, she was recognized by the Summerville Noon Rotary Club with the Thomas A. Bryce Memorial Award for Distinguished Leadership for 2018 to 2019.
Well regarded as a prolific writer, Ms. Berardo has authored numerous articles, memoirs, essays and short stories, and wrote a weekly "Women's Corner" columnist in the Manassas, and booklet, "In My Heart." She founded the Del Webb Society of Singers, Writers' Circle and Fine Arts Club. A talented artist who is known for her card paintings and expertise in oil painting and watercolor, she is an equally gifted singer who sang with the Manassas Choral Society, Peninsula Community Chorus, Methodist Church Choir, Singers of Summerville and the Summerville Presbyterian Church Choir.
Recognized with multiple awards and recognitions for her accomplishments, Ms. Berardo was notably named as the Woman of the Year by Prince William County, Virginia, and Woman of the Century by the Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society. Among other accolades, she received the Margaret K. Williams Award from Pierce County Arts Commission, was a Heritage and Arts nominee by the request of Governor Gary Locke and won a National Award for Community Excellence from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ms. Berardo currently serves as a board director with the Beautiful Gate Center since 2020 and the Cultural Arts Center project founder and President, which is in process of becoming a reality in Summerville, South Carolina.
