Silke Vogelmann-Sine, PhD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Vogelmann-Sine has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in clinical psychology.

HONOLULU, HI, September 02, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Silke Vogelmann-Sine with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Vogelmann-Sine celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Cape Town, Dr. Vogelmann-Sine began her career as an academic psychologist at the aforementioned university. However, she eventually decided that teaching was no longer for her so she pursued a career change. Having been solicited by her peers for advice throughout her youth, Dr. Vogelmann-Sine decided to venture into clinical psychology in order to work with patients in a one-on-one setting.

Renowned as a very empathetic person, Dr. Vogelmann-Sine enjoys speaking with people and helping them solve their problems. She immigrated to the United States in 1973 as one of about nine students accepted to the University of Hawaii, from which she later earned a Master of Arts in clinical psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy in clinical psychology. Dr. Vogelmann-Sine is also licensed as a psychologist in the state of Hawaii, as well as nationally certified as an addiction counselor and certified as a substance abuse counselor.

Dr. Vogelmann-Sine began her career as a clinical intern at the counseling and testing center at the University of Hawaii, followed by positions at the Diamond Head Community Health Center of Hawaii and with the Department of Health. She subsequently excelled as a consultant and instructor in the training and career development office of the Department of Health and the director of research at Kalihi Palama Community Mental Center. Dr. Vogelmann-Sine has also served as a clinical psychologist at Koko Head Clinic, the Waimano Training School and Hospital, the Rehabilitation Units of Hawaii State Hospital, for which she was recruited as an acting program chief, and at the Family Institute of the Pacific.

Dr. Vogelmann-Sine further flourished as a staff psychologist at the Biodyne Center and a clinical instructor in the department of psychiatry at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. For nearly 40 years, she has operated as a psychologist in private practice. In addition to her primary professional endeavors, she has also worked at the St. Francis Medical Center and Mastery One Inc.

Throughout her prolific career in psychology, Dr. Vogelmann-Sine has been incredibly proud of her exemplary work with EMDR. Already trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic approaches, she also completed training to become an EMDR therapist in 1991. Previously, she had realized that her trauma patients were not receiving the best treatment to combat their issues. When she discovered EMDR as a way to treat traumas, Dr. Vogelmann-Sine and several of her colleagues, including her husband, Larry Sine, PhD, became the first four psychologists in Hawaii to become trained in this therapy.

EMDR has proven to be a very powerful form of treatment and, at the time, required psychologists to go through extensive training in order to properly and safely administer it to patients. This method was developed by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. in 1987 and is now practiced throughout the world. As a dedicated professional, Dr. Vogelmann-Sine additionally created a spiritual CD to help the patients with substance abuse after attending a workshop at the Harvard Mind Body Institute.

In her present practice, Dr. Vogelmann-Sine specializes in abuse, addiction, anger, anxiety, conflict, confusion, depression, fears, grief, obsessions, panic, stress and trauma. She also ensures that her patients feel comfortable and safe by incorporating their religious and spiritual beliefs into treatment as desired. She has contributed to those in need with the Hawaii Biodyne Center, the Hawaii Mental Health Center, the Office of United Self-Help, the Windward Civitan Club and Senator Cobb's Interim Study Committee. Dr. Vogelmann-Sine also maintains her affiliation with such organizations as the Hawaii Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, the British Psychological Society, the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, the International Society for the Study of Dissociation, the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
