Richard W. Lerner Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Law



    CARLE PLACE, NY, September 04, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard W. Lerner has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Richard Lerner has been a partner at Lerner & Lerner, P.e. since 1998. Mr. Lerner specializes in disability law, including Social Security Disability, Worker's Compensation and New York State Disability Retirement. His firm focuses their practice in these areas, as well as criminal defense, and he is partners with his daughter, Kimberly Lerner. Mr. Lerner has represented many police unions, court officer unions and correction officer unions. He has also represented individuals in various types of other employment. He specializes in challenging long-term disability policies and handles personal injury claims derived from accidents. He holds a Bachelor of Science from State University of New York at Buffalo from 1966 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Brooklyn Law School.

Mr. Lerner credits his father, who always encouraged him to be an attorney. He started his career as an Assistant District Attorney in 1970. Thereafter, he went on to become partner in a firm where he helped build one of the biggest law firms on Long Island at the time, Hartman and Lerner. It was there that he learned about disability law and that firm represented all police unions and acted as their labor lawyer. He left there and formed a three-person firm, and in 1998, he went out on his own and was then joined by his daughter.

Mr. Lerner has maintained his professional affiliations with the Nassau County Bar Association, as well as the American Bar Association. He has accrued numerous accolades throughout the course of his career. In 1979 he was acknowledged by the State Parkway Police Benevolent Association, and in 2002 and 2009, he received recognition from the Nassau County Court Officer's Association. Likewise, Mr. Lerner was honored by the New York State Comptroller's Office and New York State Assembly in 2009. More recently, he was honored by the New York State Police Chief's Association, the State Troopers and has also been honored as a Top Attorney in North America. Mr. Lerner has been AV rated by Martindale Hubbell for the majority of his career.

Mr. Lerner had dedicated his life and career to aiding injured law enforcement officers. He is most proud to have fought for victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. He fought hard to obtain pensions for those who were denied. Mr. Lerner loves what he does and will continue to advocate for people who get disabled on the job.
