NAPLES, FL, September 16, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Gately has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dedicated to fostering the next generation of students, Ms. Gately was determined to set up a scholarship fund as her uncle had done before her in her father's name. For more than 35 years, she has supported children at Bell School in Marblehead, Massachusetts who are in need of extra care and attention, providing tutoring services, summer camp, music lessons and other extracurricular activities through the scholarship fund that parents may not be able to provide on their own. In addition to her work and devotion to elementary school children, Ms. Gately established a second scholarship fund for high school students who desire to pursue a college education.
Throughout the scholarship fund's 30-plus year legacy, Ms. Gately has assisted more than 400 children and allowed guidance counselors to enhance the lives of children and families who are in need of extra support. After more than 35 years, she was honored through the parent-teacher organization at Bell School by having the scholarship fund renamed in her honor to the Mary Gately Scholarship Fund. Going forward, Ms. Gately's scholarship funds will continue to ask for support from the community as there is a growing population of children that need help; 100 percent of the funds generated will go directly to Bell and Gerry School students who are combining into one newly built elementary school.
Outside of her dedication to the Marblehead community, Ms. Gately has gained valuable expertise in education through the all-girls school, Bedford High School, Saint James College in London and the Providence Institution for Savings in Boston, Massachusetts. She has additionally retained affiliation with the Eastern Yacht Club and the Kensington Golf and Country Club. Though she no longer resides in Marblehead, Ms. Gately continues to support students in the community through the scholarship fund while enjoying her retirement in Naples, Florida.
