SAN ANTONIO, TX, September 18, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dottie Jacobson Miller with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Miller celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having accrued more than 50 years of inimitable expertise in the field of psychotherapy, Ms. Miller has garnered a lauded reputation in private practice as a therapist operating out of San Antonio, Texas, since 1985. She specializes in the treatment of functioning adults with problems relating to anxiety, depression or resolving relationship difficulties. Before establishing her own practice, she worked as a clinical practitioner with the Family Service Association from 1981 to 1985. Ms. Miller initially began her career as a caseworker with the Community Service Society in New York City between 1968 and 1971. After moving in 1971 to Rochester, MN where she took time to stay home with her two children born there, she distinguished herself as a volunteer caseworker for Lutheran Social Services and a volunteer trainer with Planned Parenthood of Southeast Minnesota.

Prior to embarking upon her professional path, Ms. Miller pursued a formal education at Northwestern University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1966. She subsequently enrolled at New York University, from which she graduated with a Master of Social Work in 1968. Following the conclusion of her academic efforts, Ms. Miller obtained extensive certification in her field, becoming licensed to conduct counseling, social work and marriage and family therapy in the state of Texas, as well as a Transactional Analysis Practitioner and Board Certified by the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.

A dedicated civic advocate, Ms. Miller notably contributed for six years to her neighborhood homeowners association. During this time, 450 acres of land within that locality were under threat of development by a well-established group of local builders. She notably assisted in the lawsuit that successfully prevented the land from being exploited. Aside from this considerable feat, Ms. Miller has also volunteered as a manager at a café which fundraised for the San Antonio Symphony and served on a supporting board, Friends of the McNay, for the McNay Art Museum. Her interest in city infrastructure development led her to participation in NNOD, Northside Neighborhoods for Organized Development. Her interests in psychotherapy, psychology and sociology led her to being trained as a Collaborative Divorce Mental Health Professional and her participation on a number of Collaborative Divorce cases as well as a secretary and board director of San Antonio Collaborative Divorce Professionals.

Ms. Miller initially became fascinated by psychotherapy during her adolescence. Keenly empathetic in her youth, she drew inspiration from one of her aunts, who was a social worker and role model for her. Though her subsequent career in social work has been suffused with highlights, her having attended her first annual conference of the International Association of Transactional Analysis was a pivotal event that began her Transactional Analysis formal training and her ongoing practice in that psychotherapy modality. In accounting for her success, she credits her years of experiencing using TA in her practice, intellectual growth and unending compassion for her patients. Most important, her 50 plus-year marriage to her husband, her three children, her in-law children and her five grandchildren are a constant source of joy.

Pursuing another dream from childhood, she found a "lost" cousin in France of whom she was aware since the age of 4. That relationship inspired her to embark on a search for other cousins on other branches of the family tree, a satisfyingly successful endeavor, helped by her studying to become fluent in French. Traveling in France, reading and watching films, preferably French ones, are her free-time favorites. Looking toward the future, Ms. Miller aspires to spend time with her family, to continue her psychotherapy practice, and to continue enjoying her varied interests.
