Jeffrey F. Vernick Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Vernick has been endorsed by Marquis Who as a leader in the field of local government

FREEHOLD, NJ, September 28, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jeffrey F. Vernick with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Vernick celebrates over 30 years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in the field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Since 2007, Mr. Vernick has excelled as Manager of Performance Analysis and Planning for the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA). Prior to this appointment, he worked for the Monmouth County Planning Board as the Supervising Transportation Planner from 1998 to 2007. Previously, he held transportation planner positions with consulting engineering companies and government agencies between 1990 and 1998, including Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc., Raytheon Infrastructure Services and the Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Mr. Vernick began his career as a transportation analyst trainee with the New Jersey Department of Transportation between 1988 and 1990 and as an intern in the NJ TRANSIT Corporate Planning Department in 1985 and 1986.

Mr. Vernick has been an innovator and leader in the industry developing new approaches to transportation planning processes and products. In 2011, he co-authored the "Guidebook for Project Performance Measurement" for the NJTPA, a professional reference for analyzing the before and after impacts of transportation infrastructure projects. Recognized by the industry organization Transportation for America as an innovative model for metropolitan areas across the country, this first-of-its-type in North America guidebook outlined step-by-step instructions for determining data needs and sources, identifying the proper scale for analysis, applying suitable evaluation methods and properly interpreting findings. While working for Monmouth County, N.J., Mr. Vernick was instrumental in both expanding local bus service and developing a coordinated job-matching program with employers and the New Jersey Department of Labor. Designed to help unemployed individuals without cars to find and fill difficult-to-recruit suburban employer jobs accessible by public transit, this innovative project increased bus ridership and revenue on a struggling NJ TRANSIT route and improved bus and train connections across the county. Among his most significant accomplishments, Mr. Vernick conceived and led development of PRIME, a groundbreaking geographic-based NJTPA computer application that makes transportation needs and solutions from many agency planning and policy documents searchable for the region's transportation planning and engineering professionals. Released in 2018 following several years of development, the system is designed to promote inter-agency planning collaboration and better coordinate project development.

Entering the field of planning and infrastructure due to his love of transportation, Mr. Vernick has a passion for the history and preservation of railways. He is a former restoration volunteer of the 1872 Park Ridge, N.J. Railroad Station, and while working full-time in the transportation industry, served as a qualified trainman and conductor for the Black River and Western Railroad in New Jersey from 1988 to 1997 as well as the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad in Pennsylvania from 1998 to 2002. Mr. Vernick is a longstanding member of the American Planning Association, the National Association of Railroad Passengers and the Rails to Trails Conservancy. Mr. Vernick also volunteers in his home county, where he is an appointed member and holds the post of vice chairman of the Monmouth County Transportation Council since 2008. Mr. Vernick is also a volunteer for the Medical Reserve Corps with the Monmouth County Health Department since 2006.

Mr. Vernick was presented with a Parsons Brinckerhoff Semi-Annual Quality Improvement Award in 1996 for his work in developing a prototype computer-based internal library system for the company. He has been additionally featured in the 55th through 58th editions of Who's Who in America. Prior to embarking on his professional path, he notably earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McGill University in Canada in 1988. Mr. Vernick is a licensed planner in the state of New Jersey and has achieved certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Jeffrey F. Vernick has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
