Elizabeth Stevens Celebrated for Dedication to the Arts and Education

Ms. Stevens channels her love of the arts into her work with Deming Public Schools



    DEMING, NM, October 12, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elizabeth Stevens has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A seasoned educator, entrepreneur and artist, Ms. Stevens excels as a visual arts teacher for Deming Public Schools. Driven to inspire students through her love of the arts, she works with sixth grade students in the aforementioned New Mexico school system and specializes in a wide range of artistic media, including traditional and digital media fine art illustration, children's book illustration, character design, storyboarding, graphic design, and fine art painting and drawing. In addition to her efforts with Deming Public Schools, she channels decades of artistic excellence into her work with Liz Stevens Illustration.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Stevens gained valuable experience in several different positions, including as a graphic designer and production assistant for Sign-A-Rama as well as a cake decorator for Walmart Store #1038. Between the late 1980s and 2000, she also worked in sales and technology, serving as an inside sales/estimator for Universal Forest Products. Ms. Stevens was additionally active as a truss technician for both Cox Lumber and Building Supply and Raymond Lumber and Building Supply Corporation.

Throughout her career, Ms. Stevens has built upon her expertise through continued education, earning an Associate of Science in engineering technology from Edison Community College in 1993 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ringling School of Art and Design in 1998. More recently, she obtained a graduate certificate in elementary education and teaching from Western New Mexico University and a Master of Arts in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design, which have been the highlights of her career. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Stevens is affiliated with the New Mexico Education Association, the National Education Association, the New Mexico Art Educators Association, the education honor society Kappa Delta Pi, and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

In light of her outstanding body of work, Ms. Stevens received the president's and endowed scholarships in pursuit of her undergraduate degree. At Savannah College of Art and Design she received an Educator's Scholarship and graduated Cum Laude. Likewise, she participated in juried shows at Ringling School of Art and Design. In the near future, Ms. Stevens intends to publish her coloring book and additional work, participate in gallery shows, pursue motivational work as a speaker and continue to inspire the students that she teaches.
