Steve Woodsmall Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Education

Dr. Woodsmall channeled nearly two decades of expertise in the military to the field of management education



    PISGAH FOREST, NC, October 12, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Steve Woodsmall has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1975, Dr. Woodsmall retired at the rank of Major in 1993. Backed by the various educational opportunities and experience he received in the military, he pursued his love of teaching and worked as an instructor with ExecuTrain and Bishop State Community College, where he taught total quality management and leadership courses. Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Woodsmall expanded upon his educational prowess, serving in roles of increasing responsibility with Spring Hill College, Federal Aviation Administration, Forbes School of Business at Ashford University, University of Maryland Global Campus, and Brevard College in North Carolina.

In addition to his work in education, Dr. Woodsmall worked as a contract senior management consultant for the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. He also channeled his love of sports into working as an assistant basketball coach for the women's team at Flagler College and as an official and observer for NCAA Women's basketball. Most recently, he provided his considerable expertise to Transylvania County, NC as a member of the planning board from 2017 to 2019. Though he has achieved much throughout his career, Dr. Woodsmall is especially proud to have served his country in the United State Air Force, including command experience and assignments at the Officer Training School, Academic Instructor School, USAF-Europe, HQ Air Mobility Command, and Grand Forks AFB. He was selected Airman of the Year at Scott AFB and Company Grade Officer of the Year at Maxwell AFB.

While active in the military, Dr. Woodsmall earned a Master of Business Administration from Webster University and was acknowledged by Jaycees "Outstanding Young Men of America" in 1983 and 1988. He subsequently received a Doctor of Philosophy in Organization and Management from Capella University with a certificate in College Teaching. During his spare time, he has remained aligned with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. With a plethora of knowledge and experience at his disposal, he authored the book "It Beats Eatin' Lizards — Lessons Learned in Life & Leadership." Dr. Woodsmall was a candidate for Congress in 2018 and 2020, and remains open to new professional and political opportunities.
