FRANKLIN, TN, October 13, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kathleen Serfass, RN, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having accrued more than four decades of inimitable experience in the field of health care, Mrs. Serfass has garnered a laudable reputation as a breast nurse navigator with Ascension Saint Thomas, a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, since 2015. Having initially joined as a charge nurse in preoperative surgery in 2005, she has sharpened her expertise in nursing leadership, communication and multidisciplinary team collaboration, patient education, the implementation of policies and procedures, and oncological care coordination. She previously worked with the Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a charge nurse in the obstetrics and gynecology clinic and a triage nurse from 1998 until 2000, a nurse with the pediatric intensive care unit between 1996 and 1998, and assistant manager of the OB/GYN Clinic at from 2000 to 2004. Likewise, Mrs. Serfass worked with a number of health care organizations in Pennsylvania throughout the 1990s, including the Pennsylvania Children's Hospital through KidsPeace in Orefield, Pennsylvania; the Home Health Corporation of America; Medical Home Care Affiliates; and the Pocono Medical Center, where she initially entered the field as a pediatric staff nurse in 1978 and served as nurse manager of the Pediatrics Department.

Mrs. Serfass' exemplary performance in the field was borne from her academic journey, which began at the Carbon Career & Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, where she attained a licensed practical nursing degree in 1978. Following this accomplishment, she earned an Associate of Science in nursing at Northampton Community College in 1981. Mrs. Serfass subsequently pursued extensive coursework toward her Bachelor of Science in nursing at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and the University of Phoenix. She was certified in Pediatrics from 10/1990 - 10/2000.

A devoted civic advocate within her local community, Mrs. Serfass volunteered on behalf of the Heimerdinger Foundation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to promote healthy eating habits. Additionally, she served as the Saint Thomas Health team captain for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure between 2016 and 2019. She was the recipient of the Clinical Award from Carbon County Vocational Technical School in 1978. In accounting for her standout success, she draws extensively from the influence of her mother, who cared deeply and diligently for her nine children, three of whom were stricken by a rare neurological disease. Inspired by her example, Ms. Serfass went on to be named as Miss Hope by the American Cancer Society in 1978.

She has been married for 42 years to her husband Roy and has 4 amazing daughters Melissa, Jessica, Elizabeth and Rachel and 3 wonderful grandsons Jackson, Gabriel and Roman.
