Brian M. Newberry has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Brian M. Newberry served his country and now serves the next generation



    SPOKANE, WA, October 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brian M. Newberry has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After watching the "Miracle on Ice" hockey game in the 1980 Olympics, Brian M. Newberry developed a deep love for his country. He was inspired to join the U.S. Air Force and served in various assignments as an officer, pilot and commander for 23 years. During his service, Colonel Newberry earned a Master of Arts from the School of Advanced Military Studies, a Master of Arts in Air and Space studies from the Air Command and Staff College, and a Master of Arts in Public Management from the University of Maryland. Colonel Newberry served in various officer positions at bases across the country culminating as Commander, 92d Air Refueling Wing, Fairchild Air Force Base. Today he serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Girls Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.

In his current position, Mr. Newberry serves an area consisting of 19 counties in central and eastern Washington, and 10 counties in northern Idaho covering 65,000 square miles. He also serves nearly 3,500 girls in kindergarten through 12th grade, along with a staff of 35 and 2,000 volunteers. For his military service, Colonel Newberry received the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit and the prestigious Jerome F. O'Malley Award, nominated by Air Mobility Command. He was also a six-time recipient of the Power 50 Award as an influential Spokane community member. Civically, Mr. Newberry is involved with the Veterans First Board, the Warriors Heart to Art Board, the United States Global Leadership Coalition and a former Spokane Public Schools Board member. He is also a U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador for eastern Washington. He is affiliated with Spokane Rotary 21, the Order of Daedalians and the Airlift/Tanker Association.

Over the years, Mr. Newberry has attributed his professional success to his desire to serve and inspire the youth to become leaders and make the world a better place. After serving our nation for over two decades in uniform, he has now focused his career on the next generation to lead America. Mr. Newberry is honored to inspire his Girl Scouts council to be a preeminent organization advocating for leadership development in girls.
