Hedy Jeanette Peyser Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    SILVER SPRING, MD, October 15, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Hedy Jeanette Peyser with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Peyser celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Retiring in 2015 after amassing more than four decades of professional excellence as the director of volunteers for The Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, a nursing home and senior living facility, in Rockville, Maryland, Ms. Peyser has earned renown for her expertise in social work. Her former commitments include several years in education as the Administrator/Principal at Yeshiva High School of Greater Washington from 1968 to 1969 and as a professor of sociology at American University from 1976 to 1980. During an earlier stage of her career, Ms. Peyser enjoyed one year with the Jewish Family and Children's Service in Saint Louis as a caseworker between 1966 and 1967.

A prolific author, Ms. Peyser's article on "Lessons of a Lifetime, Creating Ethical Wills" appeared in the book: Flourishing in Later Years, Jewish Perspectives on Long-Term Pastoral Care. She has also contributed over 25 scholarly articles including "Hard Action: Best Practices in Aging Services.". Ms. Peyser's creative talents, notably, have also included studying opera. Noted for her abilities as a painter, she has also earned distinction for having a painting on display at the Jewish Museum in NY.

Ms. Peyser pursued a formal education at Brooklyn College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1963. She went on to attend Howard University, attaining a Master of Social Work in 1966 and a NIMH fellowship. Eminently qualified in her field, she is a licensed social worker in the state of Maryland. Her decision to study social work was inspired by the horrors of the Holocaust and a strong desire to help others. A visionary and leader behind numerous community and educational initiatives, Ms. Peyser provided her expertise as the chairperson of the board of education for Yeshiva High School Greater Washington. She was also a member of the Governor's Committee on Volunteerism in Maryland and a volunteer for the Jewish Federation of the Greater Washington.

As a commitment to her field, Ms. Peyser has been active with several industry-related organizations. Among them, she is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the national chapter of Jewish Social Workers. Other professional memberships to Ms. Peyser's credit include the Jewish Agency of Volunteer Administrators, the Montgomery County Association of Volunteer Administrators and the Volunteer Auxiliary Homes.

Ms. Peyser has established a reputation for excellence with multiple different awards throughout her career. She received the F. Michael Taff Award for the Special Needs Volunteer Program in 2005 and the Pyramid Award for Serving the Disabled Community throughout Montgomery County, Maryland, in 2002. She was also the honoree at the Yeshiva High School of Greater Washington banquet and at the Sulam banquet for her work with volunteers with special needs. She received three "Outstanding Programming Awards" and "Mentor of the Year Award" from The Associates of Jewish Home's and Services for the Aging. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Peyser has been cited in the 57th and 58th editions of Who's Who in America, the 22nd and 23rd editions of Who's Who of American Women, and the third edition of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals.
