Carolyn Sue Edwards Knowles Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    FOREST, MS, October 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Carolyn Sue Edwards Knowles with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Knowles celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. A passionate science teacher in the state of Mississippi for nearly 50 years, Ms. Knowles' distinguished career in secondary education began at Hunter High School in the town of Drew in 1968. She later taught at North School and Morton Attendance Center before being appointed as a teacher and chairman at the Forest Municipal School. Among her other noteworthy roles, Ms. Knowles served as the chairman of the science department at Choctaw Center High School in Pearl River.

Committed to her community for many years, Ms. Knowles recently organized an outreach tutorial program in 2018 at Concord Missionary Baptist Church for grade school students. Aligned with her church for much of her life, she was additionally active as a youth director. She has also volunteered her time in various roles with her local Girl Scouts of America, 4-H Club, and the Women's Mission Society, among other organizations. Politically, Ms. Knowles has contributed to the Scott Democratic Executive Committee in Forest since 1972.

Ms. Knowles' professional endeavors included membership with several industry-related organizations, including the Mississippi Science Teacher Association, the National Education Association and the National Science Teachers Association. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Mississippi Association of Educators. In retirement, Ms. Knowles became active with the Scott County Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi, for which she was appointed as the president from 2015 to 2016.

Ms. Knowles prepared for her career by obtaining a bachelor's degree at Alcorn State University in 1968. She later returned to academia, earning a master's degree at Fisk University in 1974. The recipient of a National Science Foundation grant from 1971 to 1974, she was notably recognized as Star Teacher by the Mississippi Economic Council. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Knowles has been showcased in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who of American Women.
