Mr. Pressly is an agricultural industry veteran and the former executive vice president and general manager of the American Royal Association, a rodeo and livestock show and Kansas City institution. Holding a Bachelor of Science in agriculture from the University of Missouri, he began his career as a county agent for the Family Farm Partnership, where he would serve from 1953 until 1961. While working with the Family Farm Partnership, Mr. Pressly accepted a concurrent position as a farm management and dairy specialist with the University of Missouri Extension. Expecting his work with the University of Missouri to be temporary, he instead discovered a career-defining drive to advocate for agricultural producers and the advancement of agricultural science as a whole.
In 1973, Mr. Pressly was named as the agribusiness manager for the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, stepping down after two years to begin his work with the American Royal Association. For the next decade, he helmed the organization and focused his efforts upon developing its mission of volunteerism, community support and financial stewardship through grants, endowments and scholarships. As a leader in the Kansas City business and agricultural communities, he accepted a variety of civic leadership roles, serving on the Lee's Summit City Council, Zoning and Adjustment Board, and Industrial Development Authority. Since 1985, Mr. Pressly has been an associate broker and sales agent with Reece Nichols Real Estate, sharing his decades of knowledge and love for the area while connecting buyers with their dream properties.
In recognition of his lifelong commitment to the town and community of Lee's Summit, Mr. Pressly was named to the high school Hall of Fame and was presented with a Proclamation of Appreciation for 58 Years of Civic Service in 2016. Likewise, he was named Lee's Summit Citizen of the Year in 2017. Among many other accolades, he has received a Civic Leadership Award from the Missouri Municipal League and a Distinguished Service Award from the Missouri Holstein Association. Mr. Pressly remains a member of Rotary International, the International Association of Fairs and Expositions, the International Agribusiness Club, and the Saddle and Sirloin Club.
