Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Making an indelible impact throughout her career as an educator, administrator and activist, Ms. Whealey's career initially took shape as a public school teacher working throughout Nevada, Kentucky and Michigan, as well as overseas, as an adult basic education teacher for the U.S. Air Force in Oxford, England. Presently, Ms. Whealey has been aligned as a board director and secretary of the Ohio Women Inc. since 1995. Additionally, she hosted a local television program, "Women Today and Yesterday," which was featured on Athens Community Television Inc., from 2006 to 2019. (The local ALT station has closed.).
Ms. Whealey first studied at Stanford University, attaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1951, followed by a Master of Arts in education at the University of Michigan in 1955.
