FRUITPORT, MI, October 27, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Bonnie Jean-Marie Vokits with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Vokits celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Vokits is a retired social worker and therapist who enjoyed a wonderful career in Muskegon, Michigan, for many years. Transitioning into the field after working as teacher aid and interpreter for the deaf at Muskegon Public Schools for nearly 20 years, she became a children's and parents' manager for Every Women's Place in 1987 and a school social worker for the Muskegon Public Schools. In 1990 among other noteworthy roles, Ms. Vokits became a family counselor for the Muskegon Circuit Court and started a program at the schools for children who were going through a divorce with their parents. Soon after this, Bonnie started private practice.

Invested in her community for years, Ms. Vokits has given back by volunteering her time serving the poor in various capacities, as well as with the De Colores movement and the Boys and Girls Club. She has also been active through her church in various capacities and, in 2002, she traveled to Jamaica with her husband on a mission trip to work with students and staff. Ms. Vokits has since started her own agency to serve the deaf and hard of hearing in Muskegon, Michigan.

Ms. Vokits has shared her life story in her 2017 book, titled "My Journey to Ephphatha: Discovering Ways God Guides Us to Our Purpose." It was notably recognized as a Top Five Indie Book Awards finalist in 2018. Ms. Vokits plans to begin writing two more books in the future about the lives of her ancestors.

To achieve her professional goals, Ms. Vokits received an Associate of Arts at Muskegon Community College in 1984, followed by a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 1986 and a Master of Social Work at Grand Valley State College in 1990. While pursuing her bachelor's and master's degrees, she excelled as a psychology intern at the Muskegon Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled. After completing her master's degree in Social Work in 1990, she worked for both Muskegon Public Schools and Muskegon Circuit Court to work with families going though divorce and shortly after that started her private practice. She is certified in the State of Michigan through the Academy of Certified Social Workers.

Some of Ms. Vokits' professional memberships that have greatly supported her career include the National Association of Social Workers and the Community Networking Agencies. She is also aligned with the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Society, the Colonial Dams Church Choir, the Disability Justice League of West Michigan and the Magna Carta Society.
