Dr. King has garnered a laudable reputation as the owner and medical director of King Mobile Veterinary Consulting Services. Established in 2014 and serving the Oklahoma City area, she enjoys serving clients as a mobile veterinarian, and formerly worked for nearly two decades as the president, owner and principal veterinarian at Acre View Pet Hospital Inc. in Edmond, Oklahoma. Prior to receiving her veterinary degree, she maintained involvement with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City. After completing her postdoctoral fellowship at the Foundation in 1975, Dr. King was hired as a research associate and advanced to become the director of scientific support services and a special assistant to the president.
Distinguishing herself as an educator for many years, Dr. King originally taught for the Oklahoma City Public Schools from 1969 to 1971, shortly after completing her undergraduate degree. Returning to the classroom years later, she has been an adjunct associate professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center since 1988. A respected member of the medical community, Dr. King has also performed consultative work on behalf of the National Institutes of Health, the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International, and the National Cancer Institute.
Among her greatest professional accomplishments, Dr. King has helped several small start-up practices and animal care centers throughout her career. She currently works with Edmond Free to Live Animal Sanctuary, which provides temporary housing to dogs that would be otherwise euthanized. Likewise, Dr. King has contributed numerous articles to professional journals and newsletters as an expert in her field.
To prepare for her career, Dr. King attained a Bachelor of Science at Central State University in 1969, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy at Oklahoma University Health Services Center in 1975. She later earned a Master of Business Administration at Oklahoma City University in 1984. Concluding her academic efforts in 1993, Dr. King received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University.
To remain aware of developments affecting the field, Dr. King has maintained her professional affiliation with such organizations as the Oklahoma Veterinarian Medical Association, the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, and the American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners. In 2003, she was acknowledged as the Distinguished Former Student by Central State University. Shortly thereafter, Dr. King was gratified to have her company named as the Small Business of the Year by Bank of Oklahoma in 2007.
