Patricia L. Young Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Administration

Ms. Young is a retired Executive Assistant for the New Jersey State Department of the Treasury



    WILLINGBORO, NJ, November 04, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia L. Young has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

Ms. Young is a retired administrative professional and Executive Assistant celebrating 40 years of service to the New Jersey Department of the Treasury. After graduating from high school, Ms. Young hoped to find a job that she had a passion for and could be successful in. She remained in the private sector for several years before taking a civil service examination. She began her government career in 1970 as a Clerk-typist in the Statistic Reports and Analysis section of the New Jersey Department of Labor.

In 1972, Ms. Young was promoted to Senior Clerk Typist and transferred to the Department of the Treasury, Division of Budget and Accounting, where she spent the majority of her career as a civil servant. She soon tested into a Principal Clerk Typist position, ensuring her a permanent, benefitted position within the Division of Budget and Accounting and opening the door to more opportunities for internal advancement.

After working her way through the ranks as a Secretarial Assistant, Ms. Young and her supervisor were concurrently promoted in 1995, bringing her to the role of Administrative Assistant II. In her four years as an Administrative Assistant, she developed an outstanding reputation for competence, professionalism and a comprehensive understanding of the details of the Division of Budget and Accounting operations, and in 1999, the Director of the Office of Management requested that she become his Executive Assistant.

As Executive Assistant to the Director of the Office of Management & Budget, Ms. Young was responsible for scheduling state-level budget development meetings, preparing salary adjustments forms for the Director's signature and other proposed budget items, and arranging all business travel for the Director. In addition to her work within the office, Ms. Young was often called upon to attend meetings as a proxy, and managed the Division's secretarial staff, conducting informal meetings once a month.

Throughout her career, Ms. Young was the recipient of numerous awards for her work on behalf of the State of New Jersey, including certificates in the following areas: Computer Training, Budget Training, Building & Garage Access Training, Payroll & Timesheet Training, & Business Grammar Training. Also received letters of recognition from Governor Chris Christie, Senator Shirley K. Turner, Honorable Bonnie Watson Coleman, Member of Congress, the Mayors of the Townships of Florence & Willingboro, and among many others. She was presented with a pin commemorating 25 Years of Service, and upon her retirement in 2010, was sent a letter from the State Treasurer honoring her 40-year commitment to the State of New Jersey.

Ms. Young is active in the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as District Deputy Grand Matron for the Fifth OES District, supervising six chapters across four New Jersey counties. Under her guidance, the Fifth District sponsored service initiatives providing holiday food baskets, disaster relief supplies and funding to local families, high school senior scholarships, school supply donations, and wider community outreach through a greeting card project. Ms. Young has held many additional leadership positions with PHA as Worthy Matron, Loyal Lady Ruler, Royal Perfect Matron, and Most Ancient Matron. Ms. Young was Chairperson of Oziel Queen Pageant and Co-chairperson of Education and Scholarship Committee. She was crowned Queen Oziel of the Oziel Grand Chapter and commended for her service to the Order with honorary plaques from the New Jersey State NAACP Conference, Lady Orchid Assembly No. 44, and Princess Leah Chapter No. 23.

Ms. Young is active in the Willingboro Friendship Guild, New Jersey Federation of Democratic Women, and Zeta Amicae of Moorestown NJ. She volunteers at the North Jersey Veterans Home and cancer charities. In the coming years, she hopes to continue enjoying her retirement and her involvement with fraternal and community organizations.
