Having long aspired to help others, Dr. Estephan graduated from high school in Lebanon and pursued a career in medicine, earning a Doctor of Medicine from Saint Joseph University School of Medicine in Beirut. Following this accomplishment, he completed a residency in hematology and oncology at Hotel-Dieu de France Hospital before relocating to the United States in order to complete his studies. In New York City, he pursued a second residency specializing in internal medicine at Saint Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center, a Columbia University hospital. He went on to complete a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Texas. Driven to foster long-standing relationships with his patients, Dr. Estephan decided to specialize in medical oncology for the remainder of his career.
Supported by his considerable expertise, Dr. Estephan joined the University of Texas and MD Anderson Cancer Center's department of breast medical oncology as an assistant professor of medicine in 2002. After three years, he accepted an appointment at the Hutchinson Clinic, and has excelled in private practice, with special interests in breast oncology and clinical cancer research. Board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Medical Oncology, Dr. Estephan is most proud of his academic achievements with MD Anderson and serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hutchinson Clinic. In both settings, Dr. Estephan contributed to over 200 meetings and seminars as consultant, participant, and speaker both nationally and internationally.
Driven to contribute to his community, Dr. Estephan serves as the president-elect of the Kansas Society of Clinical Oncologists. In recognition of his outstanding body of work, he has won a plethora of accolades throughout his career, including three awards through the American Cancer Society, and the Health Care Hero of the Year Award through the Wichita Business Journal in 2020. In the years to come, Dr. Estephan intends to build on his amazing career and leave a bigger footprint in the field both in the state of Kansas and elsewhere.
