CORONA DEL MAR, CA, November 05, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Ronald LeRoy Richmond with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Dr. Richmond celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Richmond is a retired aerospace engineer and professor celebrating more than 40 years of excellence in his field. As a young child, he was fascinated by aviation, and his enthusiasm blossomed into a passion for the field as he came of age. Dr. Richmond earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of California, and continued his education at the California Institute of Technology, where he completed both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in aeronautical engineering.

Dr. Richmond initially began his career as an aerodynamicist for Lockheed Martin Corporation in 1952, concurrently accepting a research and teaching assistant position at the California Institute of Technology. From 1957 until 1959, he served as an aerodynamics consultant and assistant group leader of aeronautical performance at the Douglas Aircraft Company, departing to accept what would become a career-defining role as the director of engineering and advanced development for Ford Aerospace, including consulting on behalf of Shelby American Automobiles. Dr. Richmond was an adjunct associate faculty in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California Irvine during the 1987 to 1988 academic year. From 1988 until his retirement in 1994, Dr. Richmond excelled as the director of engineering for Brunswick Defense of Costa Mesa, California.

Dr. Richmond considers his greatest work to be his thesis research on the skin friction force of long cylinders versus flat plates at high velocity, and he has contributed to numerous articles and papers throughout his career. He is a former NATO Industrial Advisory Group subgroup leader and a grantee of the California Institute of Technology Research. A lifelong advocate for aviation and careers in aerospace, Dr. Richmond has logged more than 3,700 hours of flight time throughout his career, and spent more than 35 years working with youth as a reserve lieutenant and volunteer flight instructor for the Orange County Sheriff's Department. He is also a past chair of the Orange County Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a Commander of the Western States Association of Sheriff's Air Squadrons and the president of the Skylarks of Southern California. He attributes his success to his sustained passion for the technology and intellectual demands of his field, and looks forward to enjoying his retirement flying and maintaining his classic Piper Comanche 400 aircraft.
