Dr. Ferguson was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by his own family physician, Dr. Grady Oliver, at an early age. Later in life, he would attend conferences with the aforementioned doctor, who always made a point of asking how his parents were faring. Following in his footsteps, Dr. Ferguson became a family physician with the Pinner Clinic in 1984. He has always allowed himself to be accessible to his patients, not only in the office but also in the community.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Ferguson earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wofford College in 1977. While at Wofford, he led a community outreach program for underprivileged children. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. He subsequently graduated with a Doctor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina followed by a residency through the Greenville Hospital System in the field of Family Medicine. Dr. Ferguson has been Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine for over 30 years. To remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, he is affiliated with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Ferguson is also a Certified Medical Review Officer and can perform national DOT certifications.
Dr. Ferguson is proud that he has contributed to his community, not only as a physician but as a Scoutmaster and Mentor to many. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Ferguson enjoys camping, backpacking and is an avid bicyclist. He has been able to share his love of the outdoors by serving his community as a scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America for more than 30 years. At Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, he has served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher. Looking toward the future, Dr. Ferguson intends to experience the continued success of his career with Pinner Clinic.
