Now retired, Dr. Jones had excelled throughout a rewarding career in academia that spanned 30 years. He also worked in a number of roles for the U.S. Government between 1969 and 1993, including as a senior staff economist for the President's Council of Economic Advisors, the deputy counselor for economic policy for the White House and the assistant secretary for economic policy for the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Taking office approximately 10 times throughout his career in various governmental positions, Dr. Jones enjoyed defending and protecting the constitution for the best interest of the people while serving his country.

Since 1993, Dr. Jones has flourished as the lead director and chairman of the audit committee for Sit Mutual Funds in Minneapolis. He is additionally noted as a former senior adviser for Lawrence and Company in Toronto, Canada. A talented writer, Dr. Jones has contributed his research to five books as a co-author, including "The Generalist-Specialist Dichotomy in the Management of Creative Personnel" in 1960, "The Development of Economic Policy" in 1980 and "Public and Private Economic Adviser" in 2000.

During his career in education, Dr. Jones found success as a faculty member with Northwestern University and the University of Michigan, for which he taught courses in finance. He was also affiliated with Georgetown University as a lecturer and a professor, the Brookings Institute as an associate faculty member and Carleton College, with which he remains active as a visiting professor and research associate in retirement. Additionally, Dr. Jones had the opportunity to complete a fellowship with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington between 1977 and 1978.

Furthermore, Dr. Jones was recruited as a visiting professor at several other institutions throughout the country between 1980 and 1999. Likewise, he was appointed as s lecturer for The Washington Campus, a non-profit, non-partisan, higher education consortium in Washington, D.C., for which he has spoken on various topics, including for academic, financial, and business programs at more than 15 different universities. As part of his civic duty, he has been actively engaged with his church as a Sunday school and priesthood class instructor, a member of the stake high council, a stake executive secretary, and a temple ordinance worker since 1983.

Dr. Jones pursued a formal education at Utah State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in economics, with honors, in 1954. He then completed service as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army between 1954 and 1956. Following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Jones enrolled at Stanford University, from which he obtained both a Master of Business Administration in 1958 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1960.

Honored multiple times for his contributions to the field, Dr. Jones initially received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Utah State University in 1971. Other awards and recognitions to his name have included two Distinguished Service Awards from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, a McKinsey Foundation Research Award and a Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Jones has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Industry and Who's Who in Finance and Business.
