Additionally, Mr. Collins provided his expertise as a visiting instructor at Florida State University between 1985 and 1986, and as a faculty member of the Defense Counsel Trial Academy in Boulder, Colorado, during 1995, and has frequently lectured on various legal topics before numerous professional organizations.
Blending his expertise with his civic duty, Mr. Collins excelled as the president of the Legal Aid Foundation for a time. The nonprofit organization works to organize and educate volunteer attorneys and provide legal counsel to those that need it. Mr. Collins was also a member, state representative of Florida, northern regional chairman of Florida, and board of directors of the Defense Research Institute, an organization established to limit the misuse of legal processes regarding personal injury compensation.
Mr. Collins prepared for his professional career by acquiring a Bachelor of Arts at Furman University in 1970 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Stetson University in 1973. He has been admitted to practice law by the Florida Bar Association, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, the Supreme Court of the United States, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. Furthermore, Mr. Collins is certified by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys.
To support his exemplary career, Ms. Collins has been aligned as a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, and, among others, the American Board of Trial Advocates. He was also a member of the judicial nomination committee of the Association of Defense Attorneys, and was active on various committees and the pro bono task force of the International Association of Defense Counsel. Furthermore, Mr. Collins is a past president of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA), the Tallahassee Bar Association and the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys.
As a leading authority in his field, Mr. Collins has authored numerous articles in various legal journals. Additionally, he has also served as a reviewer for several scholarly law journals and stood on the editorial board of the Florida Bar Journal.
